Do I need a letter from my GP?
I would normally advise patients to see their GP in the first instance to discuss the treatment. The GP would be better able to offer help and support using their knowledge of your medical history and recommend a plastic surgeon. However a letter from the GP is not required.
Is Surgery suitable for everyone?
In accordance with the National Care Standards it is the surgeons duty to provide the best advice to patients even when this may be unwelcome. In some circumstances there may be physical or psychological conditions that mean plastic surgery is not suitable for you.
Are you regulated?
I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, a member of the British Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS), a full member of The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) and the British Society for surgery of the Hand (BSSH). I follow all the rules and guidelines set by GMC.
Why is an initial consultation fee charged?
This allows a full impartial discussion about all available and treatment options. This ensures that advice is free from financial pressures; and is the advice in my opinion that best suits you.
What types of operations do you do?
I perform most cosmetic procedures in the clinic or in theatre; I also perform hand surgery. For a guide to procedures click the link Procedures.
How much does plastic surgery cost?
Treatments prices depend on the procedure, individual circumstances, the hospital and length of stay. For a guide to prices please click the link Costs.
What is the recovery time?
Recovery will depend on the type of treatment, please click the link Treatments.
Where would surgery be performed?
It would take place at any of these 4 hospitals.
When would surgery be performed?
This will depend on the type of surgery, but usually within 1-2 months of the initial consultation. A date and time will be arranged through my Secretary which is mutually agreeable.
How can appointments be made?
Appointments can be made through Jan Richards, my PA 07722 841 078 or any of the 5 hospitals.
