Skin bumps and cysts
Skin bumps and cysts can often be removed as an outpatient procedure the same day taking about 30 minutes. This is known as 'see and treat' and will need to be planned before the consultation date. Your insurance company needs to authorise a code which Jan , my PA, will give you and the theatre needs to be booked.
If the lump is on the face, non-dissolvable stitches are used and covered with skin-coloured tape and should be kept dry.
Stitches on the face will be removed 5-7 days later by the hospital nurses or the practice nurse at your GP's. If surgery is on another part of your body, stitches will be removed 2 weeks later.
If you can any concerns please contact Jan 07722841078 or the hospital ward directly.
In an emergency, if you cannot contact either, please contact your GP or St George's hospital 0208 672 1255 and ask for the on call plastic surgery doctor or go directly to the A+E department.
